It is really hard to believe that I am typing this blog in a hotel room in Kansas City writing about the San Francisco Giants, my Giants, being in the World Series for the third time in five years. And I am here to photograph all the games for Major League Baseball! This is my 15th Series in a row that I have been on assignment for MLB and I am beyond excited about this week, especially after the Giants beat the Royals at Kauffman Stadium in Game 1 tonight 7-1.

Coming back to Kansas City this week has been a real trip since I have not been back here since 1990 when I was shooting on staff for The National Sports Daily. Damn that was a long time ago!

The Royals are a super fun team with a great group of young players, and they are always fun to photograph when they come to Oakland to play the A’s. Tonight’s game was played under clear skies in incredibly warm conditions for late October in the midwest. It was a glorious night and I had a fantastic spot to shoot from at third base on the field just past the Giants dugout.

The Giants bats came alive early putting three runs on the board in the first inning, taking the Royals crowd out of the game in a hurry. Giants lefty Madison Bumgarner had all the runs he needed, but I am sure he loved the added support his teammates gave him as they continued to add on runs throughout the game, giving him a nice cushion through the seven innings he tossed.

It was a great game for Giants fans, but not so good for pictures. Not much action. I hope we get the same results in Game 2, but with more pictures! This is going to be a fun week! On Wednesday our MLB crew is heading to Oklahoma Joe’s (Gas Station location) for our pregame lunch. We went there on Monday and it was fabulous, so we are going back!
