Last night’s Game 3 of the World Series at Wrigley Field was one of the most anticipated sporting events I have ever photographed. Man was it cool to be there. The Chicago Cubs hosted the Cleveland Indians and played a Series game in front of their home fans in Chicago for the first time since 1945. The long-suffering Cubs fans were loud and waiting to explode all night, but great Indians pitching stymied the Cubs bats and by the time the game ended in favor of the Tribe 1-0 the streets in Wrigleyville were full of wary, nervous, and drunk Cubs fans looking to kick a goat on their way home.

Luckily I don’t really care who wins this series. I am simply rooting for lots of games and good pictures, so I am having a blast. My shooting assignment last night for MLB Photos was from the outside third base position and it is a wonderful spot to shoot from. The light at Wrigley for night games is surprising super bright, and the images really look terrific.

Our crew got to the park around 2pm for the 7pm start and I began my shooting day by hanging out with the ballhawks on Waveland Avenue behind the left field bleachers trying to catch home run balls during batting practice. What a fun experience that is and the pictures are cool!

After several hours of features and waiting the game finally started and the place was just nuts. As usual there weren’t that many great pictures in a 1-0 game but I managed to get a few pictures I really liked. Take a look:

Because I want lots of games and a great Series I am rooting for the Cubs in tonight’s Game 4. I don’t know where I will be shooting from, and I don’t really care. Just being in the park with my cameras is an amazing opportunity that I am super thankful for. #gocubsgo
