My favorite baseball iPhone Instagrams of 2015
Posted on December 30, 2015
As 2015 draws to a close and I am running out of new episodes of Gold Rush to watch on television I thought it would be fun to look back at the past baseball season and gather up some of my favorite iPhone pictures that I sent out over my Instagram feed @bmangin. 2015 was the fourth MLB season that I photographed the great game of baseball with an iPhone. I started back at spring training in 2012 when I took my iPhone 4S with me to Scottsdale and made the first pictures that would start me on a season-long project. This set of pictures ended up being published in a book entitled Instant Baseball. Publishing a book of photographs shot entirely with an iPhone was a fun and crazy experience, but I didn’t stop after that one season. I continued shooting with my phone in 2013, and on into this past season. My pictures are way better as the cameras in the iPhone have improved, and my shooting skills with the iPhone have progressed. Of course the best part of shooting these pictures is sharing them on Instagram. I really love publishing my images on this social media network, as well as following my friends on it. Being able to share in their daily lives and see what projects they are working on via Instagram is a daily ritual for me.
I started shooting the 2015 season where I always do, at spring training in Arizona. This time it was with an iPhone 6 Plus. This year I went to five photo days in Arizona and posed guys with my iPhone. I got some fun results and some of my favorites are displayed here in this blog post. One of the big highlights for me and my iPhone was my first-ever trip to Wrigley Field in August to shoot a four game series between the Giants and Cubs. The journey to Chicago added some nice variety to this set of pictures. By the time I finished my season after Game 5 of the World Series in New York I was using an iPhone 6S Plus. Going through all the iPhone pictures I shot this past season makes me hungry to shoot more baseball. How many days til spring training? I can’t wait! I hope you enjoy this look back at the 2015 baseball season through the lens of my iPhone. Here are my 25 favorites, in chronological order:
