As the messy divorce between Los Angeles Dodgers owners Frank and Jamie McCourt dominate the headlines general manager Ned Colletti went out and signed free agent infielder Jamey Carroll this afternoon to a two-year contract worth just under $4 million with incentives, according to ESPN.

The versatile Carroll hit .276 in 358 plate appearances with Cleveland in 2009 and has a lifetime .273 batting average over 8 seasons. Carroll can play in the infield and outfield and his versatility will come in handy for the 2010 Dodgers who could be losing infielders Orlando Hudson, Mark Loretta, Ronnie Belliard and Juan Castro to free agency.

I have always enjoyed photographing Carroll as he has a great smile and a pretty right-handed swing that always looks great from third base. I look forward to shooting him the the glorious home white Dodger uniforms at Camelback Ranch during spring training in March.
