I am in the middle of a fun and busy stretch of shooting baseball. Tonight I start shooting the three game series between the Angles and A’s in Oakland. Before I start looking ahead to shooting the great Mike Trout during batting practice in a few hours I need to look back at the previous two fun days of shooting at the Coliseum. The Toronto Blue Jays were in town so I went out to the ballpark in Oakland to shoot the day games on Saturday and Sunday.

The big highlight for me on Saturday was the soft overcast light and the sweet uniform combinations both teams wore. The Blue Jays were wearing their clean all grey road unis (as opposed to their blue tops) and the A’s went with the bright gold jerseys. Both of these colors photographed so well under the soft light. Throw in a nice play at the plate in extra innings (see above) and it was a fun day to shoot.

The sun came out for Sunday’s game, and so did the Jays blue tops. Luckily the young Jays were super loose in the dugout before the game. Their funny banter with each other helped me get some fun pictures minutes before the first pitch (see top). I love shooting teams like this full of young kids who like to have fun. The pictures I get before the game in the dugout are often the best images I get all day. Next for me? Trout and the Angels in a few hours. I can’t wait!
