To all you moms and dads out there- teach your sons to be left-handed pitchers! Free agent lefty hurler Randy Wolf has just agreed to a three year contract worth $29.75 million with the Milwaukee Brewers. Are you kidding me? Wolf spent last season with the Los Angeles Dodgers where he posted an 11-7 record to go along with a 3.23 ERA. I know the Brewers have had a hard time replacing Ben Sheets and CC Sabathia on the mound, but this seems like a pretty desperate move.

The 34-year-old Wolf has been in the league for awhile and enters the 2010 season with a career record of 101-85 and a history of bouncing around as he has pitched for the Phillies, Dodgers, Padres, Astros, Dodgers and now Brewers since 2006. But he throws with his left land because his dad was smarter than most others when he was born.

The last time I photographed Wolf was during Game 1 of the National League Division Series against the St. Louis Cardinals on October 7, 2009 at Dodger Stadium (see above). He pitched only 3.2 innings giving up 2 runs on 6 hits while walking 5 earning himself a no decision a game the Dodgers eventually won 5-3. That is the Randy Wolf I always think about and that is the Randy Wolf that Brewers fans will be stuck with for the next three seasons at Miller Park. $29.75 million! Oh to be left-handed!
